A miracle on par with the parting of the Red Sea? Perhaps. John’s
home office in-box— usually overflowing with stuff to do —
is empty. This has never happended before. It won’t last long.

First there was dark chocolate. Now its thrift- store shopping. John’s
latest addiction is trolling the Goodwills and Value Villages of the
world looking for funky retro-styled junk.

Burnhamthorpe Library’s “Quest for Heroes” Summer
Reading Club winds up with a visit from Library Page Mark Brecht demonstrating
his creative comic book style of illustration.

Kids at Burnhamthorpe Library got up close and personal with some slippery
new friends during their summer break courtesy of Reptile
Party (and yes, that’s a real snake!).

From drab to fab — John brings some colour and fun to Burnhamthorpe
Library’s Junior area with a splash or lime green paint, new posters,
and the return of original 1970’s–era plastic chairs from
the deep, dark basement.

With help from library staff, John organized a successful (i.e., fun!
messy!) Valentine’s Craft event at Burnhamthorpe Library.

A project begun in March, John’s new site

After an initial disappointment at having his Malton Branch contract
cut short, John is awarded a permanent position as Librarian at Mississauga’s
Burnhamthorpe
Branch Library.

John begins a contract position as Librarian at Mississauga’s
Malton
Branch Library. Like his experience at Toronto’s Malvern Branch,
working there proves rewarding despite some neighbourhood challenges.

Doane + Associates to re-design the look and functional interface
of Imagine
Canada’s NonprofitsCan.ca.

January 2005
John begins a Sunday Librarian contract position at Toronto’s
Malvern
Branch Library. Despite being in a sometimes troubled neighbourhood,
working at the beautifully renovated branch proves to be a rewarding
experience.
