a clean and well-organized interface for an abundance of information.

Vaughan Public Library
As it’s Electronic Content Librarian, John was asked to re-design Vaughan
Public Library’s web site. After an extensive site re-architecturing
and design process, he built a standards-compliant working prototype,
later developed by staff.

Vaughan Public Library’s “KidZone”
A kid-friendly web site designed specifically for young users of Vaughan
Public Library. John worked with an illustrator to come up with the
humorous animations rendered in Flash.

Hotel Grand Pacific
Contracted by PGI Interactive to re-design the upscale hotel’s web site,
John designed a classy site reinforcing it’s “Live Life Grand”
brand. The site makes considerable use of interactive VR tours, and
includes a Flash presentation on the home page.

Great West Fitness
John was subcontracted to design this site for a chain of popular British
Columbia fitness clubs. After presenting a number of well-received concepts,
he built a working mock-up of the selected design, used by developers
to build the site.

Peter Graben Fine Foods
Subcontracted to design this layout for one of Toronto’s prominent kosher
fine food catering companies, this was one of John’s earliest projects
(1998). The design made use of upscale food imagery and warm sepia tones,
lending it an air of formal elegance.

Cedara Software
As an employee of Yfactor Inc., John designed this minimalist site for
Cedara Software, a medical imagining company based in Mississauga, Ont.
Incorporating multimedia components, the site served as a showcase for
its innovative technology.

Canadian Film Centre
As an incubator of innovative film talent in Canada, the CFC wanted
a cutting-edge web site reflecting it’s ethos. While employed at Yfactor
Inc., John designed this layout employing a unique DHTML-driven navigational
scheme.

A favourite design of John’s, this prototype never actually made it
to production as the company merged with another before the site was
built.

Family Channel
A major Yfactor project, John re-designed Family’s site to coincide
with a station re-branding. The task was particularly challenging as
he had only a new logo to work with. Ultimately, the award-winning design
surpassed Family’s expectations.

Migrations Mail Art
The official site for a project sponsored by the Millennium Fund of
Yukon Territory, where artists were invited to submit works based on
a “Migrations” theme. Created on a shoestring budget, the
bilingual site built upon a graphic identity already established in
print collateral.

Provided with a couple of rough Photoshop mock-ups, John was subcontracted
to build out the remainder of this early (1997) site maintaining a consistent
look and feel throughout.

Search Alcan
With subsidiaries around the world, Alcan Aluminium desired a single
point of entry for visitors to search for information across all their
sites. The solution provided by Yfactor was a “Search Alcan”
portal, the interface for which was designed by John.
